Beach Party

This week the Tigers and Cubs had a beach party. We played games and set up our own ice cream shop. It was such fun - and lovely to cool down as lots of us got very wet!

Maths Cafe and telling the time

The Tigers and the Rising 5s enjoyed more number fun this week during the maths cafe on Tuesday morning. After listening to the story of Spinderella we were set different challenges to work out how many football boots were needed for teams of different animals. We made excellent use of various resources to help us solve the problems including counters, cubes and dienes.  On Wednesday the Tigers were learning all about telling the time. We learnt about how many minutes are in an hour and how many hours are in a day. The children made their own clocks with moving hands, which needed super scissor control, and also rolled play dough to make hands for the laminated clock faces.

Magical Maths

The Tigers have had a fabulous week learning about number bonds to 10, they worked together as a team completing a numicon number line representing their findings! The children were then able to solve number problems with the mats using this knowledge :)  The Rising 5’s have also spent time working together as a team completing a number line using the giant numicon outside. They then had great fun going on a scavenger hunt around the field, searching for items to match their number numicon. The children with smaller valued numbers took great delight in helping their friends find things for the larger numbers! One Cub even said, “I love days like this when we work together as a team!” :)

Malawi Federation Day

We were joined by our friends from Sutton and Hickling on Tuesday for a Federation Day. We learnt all about life in Malawi, including stories, art and craft. We had a really enjoyable day and the sun shone. We were even lucky enough to share a picnic lunch as a Federation.

Marvellous Maths

The children have really been challenging themselves this week, solving different maths problems using a wide range of resources. Some children have developed their division skills through sharing cones between 2 hoops (and even trying to share an odd number). Alongside this another group developed their counting and addition skills, finding out how many in total. Super work Tigers and Cubs!

Fighting Fit!

Today we took our PE lesson outside as it was such a beautiful day. We started by running all around the edge of the field, and we all managed it :) Some of us even asked to go again!! We then played some circle games and finished by developing our climbing skills on the play equipment.

World Book Day

Today was World Book Day and we celebrated in style. Many of us dressed up as book characters and we looked absolutely fantastic! We joined with our friends in the Lions' Class and completed a carousel of activities based on what the ladybird heard. We drew maps, iced ladybird biscuits and even hunted for ladybirds!
