Chinese New Year

This week we learnt all about the Chinese New Year. We read the story together and watched a film about a traditional Chinese New Year. In our free flow we role played a traditional Chinese New Years' dinner, played with noodles and dumplings in our messy tray and made paper and play dough dragons. Some of us even had a go at Chinese writing. We also went outside and had our own races just like in the story - it was such fun to see which animal came first.

Teddy Bears' Picnic

This week we all brought our teddy bears to school. We read the book 'Don't wake the Bear, Hare' and then planned a menu for the Bear to have at his party. We then used this menu to make our own special picnic food and took our teddies out for a picnic. The Lions' class joined us. It was fab!

Magical Maths

The Tigers have had a fabulous week learning about number bonds to 10, they worked together as a team completing a numicon number line representing their findings! The children were then able to solve number problems with the mats using this knowledge :)  The Rising 5’s have also spent time working together as a team completing a number line using the giant numicon outside. They then had great fun going on a scavenger hunt around the field, searching for items to match their number numicon. The children with smaller valued numbers took great delight in helping their friends find things for the larger numbers! One Cub even said, “I love days like this when we work together as a team!” :)

Christmas Craft Cafe

On Friday 30th November 2018 we held a Christmas Craft cafe where families were invited to join us to make crafts to be sold at the Christmas fair. The Tigers and Cubs made bauble sun catchers, stockings, bead wreaths and Christmas tree decorations.  We all worked really hard and made lots of money for our fantastic school.
